Lessons in Israel

« Back to articles

In recent years, I have been involved in 8 church tours to Israel.  On the first, I was a passenger and on the other 7, I organised the tours and travelled with the groups as Tour Manager.
Something that I would like to share with you is the visible impact a trip to Israel can have on a Christian.  I have taken seasoned travellers, raw novices and scores of people that will slot into categories in between.
The one thing I have noticed in common with all my passengers is the amazement and awe that starts in their eyes and spreads across their whole persona when they realise that they are standing, walking and even sailing where the Lord Jesus did more than 2000 years ago.  The Bible comes alive to them in a special way as they walk in His footsteps – sometimes in awe and sometimes in pure joy at being where He was.
Back home, a new element is added to their witnessing as they tell people that they’ve “been there, done that” and as their whole being testifies to the truth of what they are saying.
Most say that they waited too long before finally deciding to visit the Holy Land.  Many are determined to go back again.  All agree that it was a life-changing journey that every Christian should have the opportunity to experience for themselves and that travelling and sharing with like-minded believers took the tour to an even higher level.
